Message from the Director

Ann Kleva

Healthy environments and healthy students are essential for academic success.

The staff of University Health Services welcomes you to our website. We are pleased to provide the most-up-to-date information about health issues and offer medical services on campus that will support you during your academic journey at Notre Dame.

If you are just beginning your academic life at Notre Dame, we are pleased you are utilizing this website to understand what medical information is required prior to arrival on campus and to become informed of medical services that are available to all Notre Dame students living on or off-campus.

Another important subject is health insurance coverage. You may be wondering if your “home” insurance will cover services on campus and/or in the local community. It is important to contact your insurance agent or human resource person at work prior to arrival, so you can make an informed decision about purchasing the school-sponsored insurance plan. The varied links in this website will provide valuable information about these subjects and many others.

Our team of board-certified physicians, professional nurses, and support staff are available in the student health center in Saint Liam Hall to assist you when your health is in question. In addition to the walk-in care clinic, a 24/7 inpatient observation unit is available upon the order of a University physician. Referrals can be made to local hospitals located a short distance from campus or to specialists in the community should you require that level of evaluation and treatment.

As a multidisciplinary team, we are committed to promoting and providing services to meet the diverse needs of the Notre Dame student body and community. Whether your need is for an acute illness, injury, immunization, wellness exam, travel consult, medical referral, or requesting a CPR class, all dimensions of our health care services respect the dignity of each individual and support the Catholic character of the University.

If you have questions or concerns, please call the student health center at 574-631-7497 so we may have the opportunity to serve you.

Best wishes,
Ann Kleva
