CPR/AED/First Aid Courses
First Aid CPR AED Class Schedule and Registration form
The purpose of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Program is to give individuals in the workplace and the community the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.
Most of our courses utilize the American Red Cross Blended Learning First Aid/CPR/AED Program, which combines online (Web-based) lessons with traditional instructor-led training. Students complete the knowledge portion online at their own pace and convenience. Final exam requires at least an 80 percent passing grade. Students then participate in an abbreviated instructor-led skills session where they practice and demonstrate their skills.
CPR covers what to do for a person who is choking, whether conscious or unconscious; if the person is not breathing or has no sign of life; or if the person is having a heart attack.
AED course covers the use of an AED—Automated External Defibrillator. (There are a number now on campus in various buildings, besides being used by ND Security/Police and the Fire Department).
First Aid covers the care of someone injured or suddenly ill until emergency medical help can arrive.
