TB and Treatment Answers
If you’ve been exposed to Tuberculosis, we can help you obtain treatment.
International Students from countries determined by the Center for Disease Control to be of high-TB-incidence are required to be tested for Tuberculosis. A simple blood test, Quantiferon-Gold (QTF-G), is administered within the first week of arrival to campus through the Health Center. Results are available within a week.
If you test positive, it means that you may have been exposed to TB, but doesn’t mean you have active TB disease or are contagious. The only way to determine exposure is by a TB test. If positive, we’ll rule out active disease with further testing, and then offer you medication to decrease your chances of developing active TB disease later in life.
